We bake our own cookies, from scratch, in-house. Every recipe is developed by us. We select our ingredients carefully and bake throughout the day to ensure freshness and consistency.

For years, Matchaologist has been our trusted partner in matcha, consistently providing us with exceptional ceremonial-grade quality. Their focus on craftsmanship ensures a matcha that is vibrant, smooth, and balanced in flavour.

Our Story

Founded in 2021 by Simon and Marielouise Brandsma, Room was the first to introduce minute-made ice cream in the Netherlands. By combining artisanal gelato with specialty coffee and matcha, they bring together decades of experience and a passion for offering the highest possible quality.

Simon began his career in his family’s bakery more than 35 years ago. Although gelato was part of his baking school curriculum, he only chose to specialize in it much later. The family tradition of Sunday drives across Groningen for ice cream eventually inspired him to create his own — freshly made with the finest ingredients.

Today, Room serves the best ice cream in Groningen and Drenthe, having opened its third location in Zuidlaren in 2025. Together with their three daughters, Simon and Marielouise are committed to sharing their dedication to craftsmanship and quality with their customers every day. Their drive and passion have not gone unnoticed: Room has been featured in multiple national and regional media outlets.
